Ella Waters jumped into her father’s arms as he walked through the front door.
“Daddy, Daddy, come on. We’re going trick-or-treating,” she squealed.
The three-year-old could barely contain herself while her father changed into his Halloween costume.
In a flash Ella, mom Heather, big sister Preslee and dad Drew were out the door for some trick-or-treating fun in the neighborhood.
Sounds like the typical, suburban family, right? Well they are, sort of.
You see, dad just left the movie set where he was shooting his latest picture.
Drew Waters is a hard working, up-and-coming actor/model who is quickly gaining notoriety in the theatrical community.
“I was able to arrange my shooting schedule so I could get home to my family on Halloween,” Waters said.
“Our kids are very excited to get dressed up, and we don't want to miss that as a family.
“My wife and I go trick-or-treating with them because we enjoy it, and we know they'll be safe.”
Publicist Peggy Villines of Peggy Villines Marketing and Public Relations Agency said Waters is a great client to represent.
“Drew began a career as an international print model, working on ad campaigns for designers like Ralph Lauren, Prada, Structure, Versace, Chaps, Hugo Boss, Guess, and Abercrombie and Fitch,” she said.
“He had eight successful years of modeling on the globe’s top runways, landing covers and ads in GQ, Vogue, Esquire, and Men’s Fitness, Men’s Journal.”
Four years ago, Waters decided to add acting to his modeling career.
Last year he starred opposite Danica McKellar as her husband in Lifetime Television’s “Inspector Mom” and recently wrapped production for “Mad Money” starring Katie Holmes and Diane Keaton.
He worked with Jessica Simpson again on “Major Movie Star.”
Waters will soon be seen in “Blonde Ambition” starring Jessica Simpson and Luke Wilson.
He is currently working on the new Mathew Broderick movie called “Wonderful World” and is already scheduled to appear in two movies next year.
He is the guest-starring lead of the episodic, “Prayer of the Bone” based on the critically acclaimed UK series, “Wire in the Blond” opposite series star, Robson Green of “Rocket Man.”
Waters guest starred on NBC’s “Surface” and had lead roles in several independent films such as “Foreign Soi,l” “The Plan,” and “They Feed” which won second in the Westlake Film Festival.
Early in his acting career, Waters landed commercial and industrial assignments for local, regional and international clients such as Luby’s, Ford, and Dell Computer. National talent agencies began to pursue him to audition for TV and film.
The option to remain a supportive father and husband, despite a grueling work schedule, has kept Waters well balanced in his career and family life.
Waters said his family loves living in Sachse, and they are very pleased with the Wylie School District.
Heather is a member of the Cox Elementary School PTA.
“We love living in Sachse and have no plans on moving,” he said.
“Our community and friends in Woodbridge are important to us.”
Waters said he is still able to have a successful career in show business and still live in Sachse.
“I don’t see any reason to move and change the wonderful life we have here,” he said.
“With today's technology, I can work my business anywhere.”
Also my production company Request Entertainment just was hired to shoot a new movie in December.
“By far, the best part of my job is waking up every morning knowing that I am doing what I love to do,” Waters said.
“Four years ago I shut down my construction company and sold my retail businesses to pursue my dream.
“I wasn't sure how it was going to work, but I knew I loved it.
And if you are truly passionate about what you are doing, there is nothing you can't accomplish.”
Waters met his wife Heather in ninth grade, and they became high school sweethearts.
“I have always been supportive of Drew’s acting career because he is really talented,” she said.
“Drew's success only makes him a happier person and better husband and father for it.”
Waters said the highlight of his year happened when he took his family to a movie premier.
“I had my oldest daughter in my arms walking the red carpet doing interviews and taking pictures,” he said.
“After the movie was over my daughter looked at me with a big smile and said she was proud of me. “That felt wonderful”
Waters said show business is hard to break into.
“I read that close to 10,000 people a day around the world are trying to break in to this industry,” he said.
“There is a saying that you are only as good as your last project and after that your unemployed again.
“My acting is starting to be respected in the film industry and that is a great thing to have.”
Waters opened his laptop to view his schedule for the week.
“Commercial and modeling shoots and several auditions,” he said.
“Then I get to come home and mow the lawn and finish the yard work.”
