Pleasant Valley UMC FREE July 4 Celebration

Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church has had a 4th of July event as long as the old timers can remember. But this year is going to be a bit different. In an effort to showcase our church as a fun and wholesome place to worship God, we are inviting the entire community to join us for food, fun and fellowship. All activities take place on the church grounds at the corner of Pleasant Valley and Merritt Road in Sachse. Everyone is invited to celebrate an old-fashioned Fourth of July from 5pm to 8pm with free food, door prizes and games for kids of all ages. This year, for the first time, we are inviting the entire community to join us in the celebration. That’s right – everyone who comes to the event will get free hot dogs and drinks. And there will be lots of fun activities for all ages. Look for the welcome center where visitors can meet some church members and find out about the programs of our church. Each visitor who completes a brief registration form will receive coupons for hot dogs and drinks, and have a shot at some great door prizes, like dinner at local restaurants. For the kids, there will be lots of fun events, with many having little special prizes for the winners. A Bouncy House will help the little ones work up an appetite. And, when you get hot, you can line up at the Snow Cone machine for a cold treat. Kid’s competitions will include a sack race, bean bag toss, timed hula hoop spin, egg toss, and much more. And for the adults there will be dominos and horseshoes. Free hot dogs and drinks will be served. There is no charge to attend the event or to participate in any of the activities. Please join us on July 4!

Remembering sacrifice, Public Safety memorial service

Texas police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty during the past year will be honored at a memorial service and ceremony at 7 p.m. July 15 at the field in front of the new Sachse Public Safety building.
The event is sponsored by the city of Sachse and The Sachse News. The community is invited.

Veach said the ceremony will bring together all segments of the public safety community.

Local public safety agencies  have been asked to have representatives present. The names of the fallen members will be read.
