Join the Sachse Chamber this Saturday for the third annual Cars Under the Stars car show.
The show will once again be held from 6 to 11 p.m. in the Kroger shopping center parking lot located at 5190 Hwy. 78.
Admission is free. There will be door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, tee shirts, and more. Registration is $20 per entry and there are no pre-registrations.
“This is a good show because it truly represents hometown,” Committee Chairman Stephen Stanley said. “The people really enjoy themselves as it is a great family event and the proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund.”
For the third year the chamber has enlisted the services of Christy Fritts of Custom Automobile Road Show to help with the event.
“Last year we had over 170 wonderful cars and trucks registered,” Smith said. “We’re giving out free tee shirts and dash plaques to the first 50 entries and there is a $20 entry fee.”
Stanley said the car show has partnered with Lisa Peters of Metlife to donate free booth space to the Sachse Animal Control Department for pet adoptions.
The title car show sponsor is Kwik Kar.
There will be four best of show awards in the following car and truck classes:
Pre-50s car, 50s car, 60s car, 70s car, 80s car, 90s car, 2000s car, Street Rod, T-Bucket Roadster, Muscle Car, Import Car, Open Car, Corvette, Pre-60s Truck, 60s truck, 70s truck, 80s truck, 90s truck, 2000s truck, Mini Truck and Open Truck. Motorcycles are welcome.
Chamber of Commerce President Tina Stelnicki said the annual car show is a fun event and is looked forward to by everyone in the community.
“The car show is a great way to introduce the community and local businesses to people outside our city,” she said. “Last year I heard several of the car owners in attendance say that they had not been to Sachse in a long time and they were surprised at the amount of growth here.”
Stelnicki said the more people that come to the event get to know our local businesses which means more possible customers for the local merchants.
“Last year the people that produce the Car Show were very happy with the number of registered cars,” she said. “The Kroger shopping center is a great location for the show because it is the gateway to our city and nearly everyone at some point in their day drives by this intersection.”
Although the chamber is still soliciting sponsorships current sponsors are: Auto Repair, Big Bass Towing, MetLife Home and Auto, C. E. Cantrell, LLC, Rich's Performance Muffler, Sachse Rod Shop, Infinity Signs, Sachse Service Center, Sachse Economic Development Corporation, RE/MAX Infinity, Stephen Stanley, Wingstop, Hooley’s Tavern, Edward Jones Investments, Gary Overby, American National Bank of Texas, Williams Contracting, Suburban Roofing, J C Ornamental Iron Works, Inc. and Farmers Electric Cooperative.
“Holding an evening car show will allow people to wander up and down the aisles and enjoy the many classic and antique vehicles on display after the temperature cools down a bit,” Chamber Board Chairman Linda Gerstner said. “Last year a lot of folks asked to have their pictures taken next to some of the display cars and the owners happily obliged.”
Stanley said the committee was grateful for the large participation in last year’s show and they expect an even larger show this
“Those folks spend a lot of time in preparation of their vehicles and the people who came to the festival showed their appreciation and admiration.” he said. “That was a such a great crowd and I heard a lot of good comments.”
Stanley said he feels so fortunate to have the community support for local activities.
“Their hard work and support before, during and after makes events like this successful and of course our grateful appreciation goes out to our sponsors,” he said.
Judging will be from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m.. The winners will be announced at 11 p.m.. For more information please contact the chamber at 972.496.1212.
