Three people were arrested and numerous marijuana plants and materials were confiscated after Rowlett and Sachse police raided a “grow house” last week in the Peachtree Estates neighborhood in Sachse.
The house is located at 4601 Peachtree.
Rowlett police were in charge of the case and were assisted by Sachse police.
“I received a call from a Rowlett detective last week asking me to check out an address in Sachse to see if there were any vehicles parked at the house,” Sgt. Jerry Fox said. “They asked me to assist with a case. I went to the address they provided and saw a small SUV with a U-Haul in the driveway. It appeared that someone was getting ready to load.”
Fox said Rowlett detectives gave him a summary of their suspicions of a possible grow house at that location. Rowlett PD had been investigating the case.
Rowlett Public Information Officer John Ellison said the house on Peachtree in Sachse was related to other cases that Rowlett PD was investigating.
“I called the lead Rowlett detective and told him about the U-Haul in the driveway,” Fox said. “He told me to watch the house and he would be right over.”
Fox called Sachse Detective Chris Burns and alerted him to the situation. Other Sachse police officers dispatched were Detective Dan Lewis and Officers Steve Doerr, Crystal Parlin and Scott Hare.
Burns said when he got to the house indicators of both sight and smell alerted officers that marijuana was present.
“As Rowlett officers knocked on the front door a suspect ran out the back door into a field,” Burns said. “Perimeter police took him into custody.”
Officers entered the house through the opened back door and encountered two additional suspects, who were detained.
Rowlett officers obtained a search warrant and the house was processed.
Rowlett and Sachse officers confiscated grow equipment, marijuana plants in adolescent stages and other plant materials.
Police officials said it appeared that the house was in the process of being dismantled and other indicators showed there might be other locations involved.
The three suspects and all secured evidence was taken to Rowlett PD.
“This was good team work,” Burns said. “We’re always ready to assist another police agency. Three people are in custody and we took down a grow operation with no injuries.”
The case is still under investigation. Ellison said since the case was a federal matter Rowlett PD would not release any additional information.
