From staff reports
The Sachse Chamber of Commerce has officially challenged the Murphy and Wylie chambers to a Macaroni and Cheese Showdown.
Each chamber will collect boxes of mac and cheese to be donated to the Community Christian Care Center.
“Grab some extra mac ’n’ cheese every time you shop and drop it off at the chamber office or bring it with you to any chamber event,” Sachse Chamber President Tina Stelnicki said. “If you’re afraid you’ll forget or don’t have the time, give us the cash and we’ll do the shopping for you.”
The contest will continue through Aug. 27, but already some local businessess have gotten involved.
Anytime Fitness, the 24-hour co-ed fitness franchise located in both Wylie and north Garland, has joined in the showdown. The club on Firewheel Parkway will represent the Sachse Chamber while the Wylie club on Hwy. 78 will represent the Wylie Chamber in the contest to collect the most boxes of macaroni and cheese.
Both gyms will serve as drop-off locations for public donations through Aug. 27.
The owner of Anytime Fitness on Firewheel Parkway, Renee Reed, said she is very excited about the competition.
“Everything we do is about helping people,” Reed said. “Whether we are helping people improve their health or improve their community, we want to make a difference. We offer an environment that is friendly and inviting, which makes it easy for people to get involved.”
Anyone who makes a donation can receive a free guest pass to Anytime Fitness.
Donations and club tours are available at each club from noon to 7 p.m. weekdays.
