Texas Rangers search Collin County District Clerk's office

According to information from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Collin County District Clerk's office was the site of a search warrant Wednesday, June 1. Texas Rangers were seeking information concerning the use of county "resources and personnel in futherance of a political campaign."

“Pursuant to an ongoing investigation into allegations of improper use of Collin County resources and personnel in furtherance of a political campaign, the Texas Rangers executed a search warrant at the offices of the Collin County District Clerk in McKinney," the DPS statement said. "The search warrant was executed to search for evidence which would support the allegations. If the allegations were found to be true, charges of Abuse of Official Capacity and/or Tampering with a Government Record could be filed in the future. Currently, no arrest have been made.”

Current District Clerk Hannah Kunkle did not seek re-election this year. She had been with the county 20 years.

Chief Deputy Clerk Patricia Crigger, won the Republican Primary in March defeating Alma Hays and Terrye Evans.  Crigger gathered 43.35 percent of the vote to Hays 33.36 and Evans 23. 29 percent.  Crigger does not have an opponent on the November ballot.
